NERF promotes excellence in nursing and health care by providing funding opportunities for education and research.
Our strategic aims:
Leadership: - Promote excellence in nursing and health care. - Identify priorities and provide support for research and education grant applications. - Contribute to the development of nursing as a profession.
Recipients: - Provide scholarships, travel grants and other assistance to eligible applicants to enable them to do nursing research work and acquire specialised knowledge and/or further qualifications in connection with their profession of nursing.
Organisational: - Provide initiatives to grow funds through bequests and donations. - Allocate grants each year in accordance with donors and founders requirements and at levels which preserve the investment base. - Ensure stability and safe guardianship whilst maintaining the investment base. - Ensure investments are informed by the values, ethics and aspirations of New Zealand nurses. - Avoid investments that are repugnant to New Zealand nurses. - Take a proactive attitude toward future challenges. Social: - Promote equity of access to scholarships and grants. - Prioritise the provision of scholarships and grants for projects and research that demonstrate a commitment to improving health and social inequalities. - Periodically identify areas of social and/or historical value to the nursing profession and undertake long term funding of projects that preserve and/or promote nursing’s historical and social base.
